What Do Visits Look Like?
The first thing we do, is always ask about how they have been. We engage the parents by talking about their child, their development, and anything new that has happened.
The activities that we bring are ones that can be made from things around the house. Items can includes toilet paper or paper towel rolls, milk jugs, Pringle cans, beans, rice, and many many more. These are used to create fun activities that engage the children in play, promote child development, and promote positive parenting behaviors.
We talk about developmental centered parenting as well. These topics include attachment, discipline, health, nutrition, safety, sleep, transitions and routines, and healthy births for our pregnant moms. These topics are broad and cover everything from tantrums, to toilet training. This discussion is parent-led. Nobody knows your child as well as you do.
We also concentrate on Family Well-Being. A family's circumstances have significant and long-lasting effects on children's development, ability to learn, and overall health. Plus, a family that is happy is a family that is resilient. These topics include everything from basic essentials, to recreation and enrichment. Again, this is parent-led because this is about your life, and how you see it.
We have the opportunity to leave a book for every child in the family as well. This promotes literacy, and a child who enjoys books is more likely to excel in school.
